Janice Small on BSF:  The taxpaying parents win the argument

Having addressed the parents of Birkenshaw Middle School last night, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate Janice Small, gave a message of support to the parents:

“As a mother of two boys still in full-time education, education is close to my heart and I truly believe in parental choice.  The parents at Birkenshaw are not being given a choice; it is a fait accompli based on flawed costings.

“The overriding consideration to the council’s proposals is predicated on the council’s consultants and officers’ calculations on the cost of providing parental choice in education.  Last night the taxpaying parents took on the prolifigacy of the overspending council and challenged the costings put forward by the councillors.

“The proposals put forward by educational buildings architect, Mark Green, knocked millions off the cost of building a Birkenshaw high school.

“The council has to learn that when times a hard taxpayers revolt and demand that our money is spent wisely.  This scheme is a win win situation for all concerned”.
